I did not live the printing press era, which of course caused a lot of changes regarding communication, use of printed media (newspaper), and some other aspects that I am not so sure about. However, I have lived the computer revolution closely. I can say that computers have changed the game completely. Adding vocabulary, changing people's ways to interact, and so many other things; furthermore, language for me has suffered a lot from this. The use of contractions, slang, new technological terms and some others aspects is helping the language grow (English) and expand around the world. Computers are a huge part of English spreading worldwide.
ResponderEliminarI consider the printing press Era showed not only a big improvement regarding technology development, but also a huge change in the language. Due to this, people were always looking for better ways of communication. This led them into the creation of new vocabulary and even grammatical structures. Different groups created their own jargon and slangs that, then, were incorporated into the regular language and therefore new vocabulary arose.
ResponderEliminarWritten communication is the best example of how a language can expand, and how, inevitably, evolves.
Computers did, are, and will continue changing culture .
ResponderEliminarYes, I believe they changed many things not only culture. The one that mainly changed us was the computer. Computers eliminated all kind of boundaries among people, which result in a new concept of comunity. Now a days, thanks to computers we know other cultures, languages, people, and even places without leaving our homes. We see computers and technologies that are related to them not only as a tool, but as soemthing we couldnt conceive life without. So, even though, computers were not quite accessible before, they have become part of our daily life. Hence, changing the way we live, interact, and sense one another.
ResponderEliminarThe invention of PCs has generated a big impact for today and future society. PCs have given a faster mechanism to communicate with others around the world. This fact has represented an approaching among cultures.
ResponderEliminarIn the current world, it’s almost impossible to imagine that someone can live without computers. Computers have become an electronic device of almost every day use for individuals of every age. They are essential in almost all the business dealings that are made nowadays. The most that any industry has gained from the discovery of the computers is the business industry because of its nature. Computers have gained significance as they have improved the efficiency and productivity of work done. However, illegal or inappropriate materials can be found in the interne, and some criminals use the internet for spreading computer viruses or even intercepting credit card or bank details for spurious purposes.
ResponderEliminarIn my opinion, the two invention brought a lot of changes and not only in language and culture but in llifestyle in general. The most influential one has been the computers because it had more impact in communication and informaion than the printing press. Of course, in my opinion, it was a matter of steps, it means that without the invention of the printing press it could have been almost impossible to have the computers later on, one took us to the other. Both came from the need of getting informed and communicating with other people.
ResponderEliminarHi everyone! I think that both inventions have made a huge impact in terms of culture and language. In the past, the printing was so expensive that only people from the upper class were able to read a book or a letter. And as the article mentioned before, the same thing happened to the computers. Now that we live in the technological era, it is impossible not having a computer or internet access today. Personally, it is a matter of perception because both inventions have caused cultural changes and to be able to connect around the world.
ResponderEliminarOf course these inventions are going to bring a change in culture, in language and in any other aspects since they have evolved our life completely. Nowadays we depend on these inventions in many ways and it is interesting to see all the work that many people have done to get to the product that exists currently. It could be seen that these inventions have provided facilities to acquire a better knowledge. In the past it was difficult to get information but throughout the time we can see the improvement and the easy ways we have to get informed.
ResponderEliminarI think both inventions have been really important over the years because both have provided to have a better communication.
Computers are often considered one of the best invention in history, not just because of all the brilliant things they can do and the great improvements they have made in our lives, but because of our relationship with them. When the first computers appeared, only privileged people had one, but currently almost everyone has access to one. I do believe computers are useful because they can store a huge amount of information in a small place, and they are an easy and fast communication tool; however, they can also change us into irresponsible humans. I agree that computers have become an integral part of human civilization though, for me, they are not the most significant invention of the past century. Regarding the printing press, it surprises me that before its invention, books had to be copied by hand, and after it, technology and language were pushed to improve. For those reasons, I consider both the printing press and computers have influenced communication, literature, culture, and language in a certain way.
